Job Description


As a Security Officer - Education Site - Weekdays in Dix Hills, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more.

As a Patrol Unarmed Security Professional with Allied Universal in an educational setting, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas to help maintain a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your presence will help to deter security-related incidents while you provide exceptional customer service and clear communication. What You’ll Do:

  • Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
  • Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
  • Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
  • Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
  • Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to clients, students, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies within an educational environment.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the educational facility and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential concerns.
  • Monitor and report any suspicious activity, security-related hazards, or maintenance issues observed during patrols.
  • Assist with access control by verifying identification and/or credentials of individuals entering the location as required.
  • Support emergency response activities as directed, including assisting with evacuations and/or lockdowns when appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs and reports of security-related incidents and daily activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • State, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
