As a Security Officer - Shelter Patrol in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more.

As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a vital role in helping to maintain a secure and welcoming atmosphere at a shelter location. Your primary responsibilities include conducting regular patrols throughout the premises, remaining highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and providing outstanding customer service to residents, staff, and visitors. You will be a key point of contact, responding to situations with professionalism and compassion, and supporting the overall well-being of the community. What You’ll Do:

  • Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
  • Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
  • Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
  • Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
  • Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to clients and residents by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter location and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and promote a secure environment.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas within the shelter to help to deter unauthorized access and support a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Document and report observations, incidents, and any unusual circumstances according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with shelter staff and residents to address concerns and maintain a positive environment.
  • Remain alert and attentive to surroundings while on duty, adapting to varying working environments and conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
