SECURITY GUARD FOR CEMETERY

PAY RATE: $20.69 PER HOUR

REQUIRES OPEN AVAILABILITY

Experienced and dependable security professional responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and peaceful environment of a large cemetery in Whittier. Duties include patrolling extensive grounds, monitoring entrances, responding to incidents, and assisting visitors with compassion and professionalism. Skilled in conflict resolution, access control, and working independently. Committed to preserving the respectful atmosphere of the property while ensuring public safety and protecting cemetery assets.

Experience and Education:

• First Aid-AED Certified
• High School Diploma
• Two years law enforcement, security and/or park ranger.
• Two years college (Prefers criminal justice degree but not required)

Special Skills:

• Advanced computer skills
• Experience in an emotionally sensitive environment 
• Excellent telephone etiquette 
• Excellent powers of observation and detail-mindedness
• Read and understand the park lot system (grave location) and lawn layout
• Ability to read and write English
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Exposed to all Elements:

• Weather Exposure: Outdoor work environment subject to all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

• Natural Landscape: Rolling hills, grass fields, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds creating a peaceful and serene setting.
• Uneven Terrain: Slopes, gravel paths, and soft ground conditions may require careful foot placement and awareness.
• Seasonal Changes: Environment can shift significantly with the seasons, impacting visibility and grounds-keeping.
• Wildlife Presence: Occasional sightings of birds, squirrels, raccoons, and other small animals.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Grooming Standards:

• T-shirts worn under open-collar button-down shirts must be white or black with a reinforced crew neck and no designs. T-shirt sleeves must not extend beyond the short sleeve shirt.
• Pants cannot be tucked into the boots
• Shirts must be tucked in.
• Uniforms size should be appropriate when worn
• Jackets must be company-issued and approved.
• A safety vest must be worn at all times. (At Gate 17, Gate 6 and during Events)
• Socks with low or mid-ankle shoes must be black. White socks are only permitted if prescribed by a doctor for medical reasons.
• Shoes must be black, polish-able boots with plain toes. No buckles, monograms, or designs. Western-style or pointed boots are not approved. All boots must be clean and scuff-free.
• Uniform belts must be black, 1.5 to 2 inches wide, with no flashy or themed buckles.
• Approved baseball caps only (except head coverings worn for religious purposes)
• Rain gear must be yellow or black rubber or suitable material; hoods must match coat color

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
