  • Previous canine experience not required, training provided
  • Daily care allowance for canine care (Plus all training and equipment)
  • Pay Rate: $27.50 / hour

Allied Universal Security is hiring a K-9 Officer in the Retail Division. The K-9 Officer is accountable for the delivery of K-9 Services for assigned sites. This role is responsible and accountable for assigned deployments and established patrols, and the care, custody, and control of a company-owned canine, to include but not limited to, proper housing and transportation standards. The K-9 Officer must maintain K-9 Team training standards (as established by Allied Universal), training coordination/administration, tracking K-9 team financials, and vehicle maintenance records.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Deploy and patrol with K-9 at assigned work sites
    • Conduct routine and prescribed searches utilizing the K-9
    • Maintain K-9 Team training standards
    • Administrative duties, such as but not limited to, cost tracking, accident/incident reports, daily activity logs, training logs, and vehicle maintenance logs
    • Maintain an expansive and contemporary knowledge in K-9 tactics
    • Liaison with clients, senior corporate staff, and Allied Universal® field management
    • Develop and deliver K-9 demonstrations to new clients and the general public
    • National travel, as necessary
    • Maintain K-9 team certifications as required by Allied Universal®

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required
    • Prefer to have at least one of the following:
      • Service in any military branch (including Guard and Reserve)
      • Law enforcement role, with a completed accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal)
      • Municipal or federal correctional officer, including attending a full-time accredited LE/Corrections Academy
      • Armed Security – (Private or Contracted)
    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
    • Highly organized and able to keep management on track with required information available at all times
    • Proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology including PDAs, Nextel phones/pagers, mail merges, Access databases, Outlook, and Internet applications
    • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
    • Outstanding oral and written interpersonal communication skills

       PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

    • Interior and exterior work environment with exposure to extreme heat or cold expected
    • Major activities include walking, running, standing, stooping, kneeling
    • Physical effort: raising arms to direct the canine, climbing stairs; ability to maneuver up to 100 lbs. (to maintain control of the canine)
    • Must be able to submit to drug screening to the extent permissible by law
    • Must be able to submit to background check to the extent permissible by law
